Dancing is something I have always loved and seems to be something that always manages to pull me back in, regardless of whether I want it to.

I recently started going back to dancing classes after a long break and I have to say, I had forgotten how much I loved it. I also didn't realise how unfit I had become.

Writing for a living has many opportunities and advantages but being a writer is definitely not good for keeping in shape. In fact, I would say that it positively encourages you to be lazy, to sit curled up on the sofa with a hot drink and biscuits with nothing more than a pen, paper and laptop.

So, in this respect, the dancing classes are really helping. Also, I have found that it makes me feel better. Even though I am worn out afterwards, there is this strange kind of exhilaration that gives me a boost.

Although, I probably look a fright walking home with sticking up hair, a red blotchy face and wobbly jelly legs from too much muscle stretching.

All I can say is, thank god I live in London where anything goes and no one bats an eye at strange looking folk wandering around.

It's all great fun, really...

So my motto for the day is "Get up off the sofa".
